Asset Allocation by Age Group/Risk Tolerance

Here are my guidelines for asset allocation by age/risk tolerance. I will adjust asset weightings as market conditions change and demand different strategies. Anytime I adjust asset allocation for any age group/risk tolerance, I will edit this post and throw up a link on the main blog.

Under 40 years old/High Risk-

70% Growth Stocks
20% High Yield Stocks, Bonds, REIT's, and/or ETF's
10% Gold (Unless you're rich and can afford to buy and store physical gold, buy the Spyder Gold Trust ETF (GLD) which does a great job tracking gold prices)

40-65 years old (or retirement)/Medium risk-

50% Growth Stocks
35% High Yield Stocks, Bonds, REIT's, and/or ETF's
15% Gold (Unless you're rich and can afford to buy and store physical gold, buy the Spyder Gold Trust ETF (GLD) which does a great job tracking gold prices)

After retirement/Low Risk-

30% Growth
50% High Yield Stocks, Bonds, REIT's, and/or ETF's
20% Gold (After retirement I would be in 100% physical gold)
