Quote of the Day

"There's an old Wayne Gretzky quote that I love. 'I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.' And we've always tried to do that at Apple. Since the very, very beginning. And we always will. It's really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them."

Quote of the Day

"We were very lucky, actually, I never voted for President Bush, but he made the most profound statement in all of economics.  I mean, people heard about Adam Smith's invisible hand, and they've heard about animal spirits, and comparative advantage with Ricardo, but nobody topped George Bush when he stepped out there on the front lawn in September of 2008 and said the immortal ten words of economics.  He said, "If money doesn't loosen up, this sucker could go down."  (Laughter.)  That should be etched up there in the pantheon of great economists. And that message got through to the people that were working with him, and it finally got through to the U.S. Congress, and we came through it.  But Europe has not yet had anybody that can speak with that voice and that can cause the others to march behind them."

Quote of the Day

My boy J-Rod, aka 'The Wind', has inspired me to start a new section in the blog called "Quote of the Day". The first quote was brought to my attention by none other than 'The Wind' and features the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett.

"The key to investing is not assessing how much an industry is going to affect society, or how much it will grow, but rather determining the competitive advantage of any give company and, above all, the durability of that advantage. The products or services that have wide, sustainable moats around them are the ones that deliver rewards to investors."
